The EKINOPS 360 optical transport platform is a high capacity 1.2 terabit system capable of 10G and 100G ultra-longhaul transport up to 6000 Km in as little as 1RU.
Longhaul transport networks present unique challenges simply due to their distance. They are expensive because they require more amplification and regeneration sites than metro networks. They are also operationally difficult because even normal activities such as wavelength turn-up and tuning typically require dispatching technicians to remote areas many miles from the nearest support site. Unplanned events such as outages and fiber breaks only compound the cost and difficulty.
The EKINOPS 360 optical transport platform is a high capacity 1.2 terabit system capable of 10G and 100G ultra-longhaul transport up to 6000 Km in as little as 1RU. It helps lower your transport costs because you can reduce the number of amplifier and regeneration sites required (“hut skipping”) using our advanced erbium doped fiber (EDFA) and Raman amplifiers coupled with our patented DynaFEC® forward error correction technology.
Our EDFA-based Variable Gain Optical Booster / Pre-Amplifier provides 17dBm of output power and it has and external pump input for an upgrade to 20dBm where you need it for 10G single span reach up to 320Km. It also includes an Optical Supervisory Channel (OSC) so it can be managed remotely from a centralized NOC.
Adding Raman increases that distance to over 375 Km, and using Remote Optically Pumped Amplifier (ROPA) and Remote Optical Amplifier (ROA) modules, the 360 platform can extend your single span reach to over 450 Km.
Of course, deploying and provisioning a network over these distances is another story. To address that, the 360 platform offers automatic system turn-up and tuning with its Celestis LightUp network management tool. Lightup is an application that uses information exported from the Celestis Design & Quote (D&Q) tool and automatically turns up the network based on the designed network parameters.
It first audits the network by comparing the measured span losses to the network design and then adjusts the amplifiers on a span-by-span basis for optimal network performance. Instead of rolling trucks to every site one-by-one to turn-up and tune the network, a single technician can do all of the commissioning in both directions from a remote NOC.
