Gigamod 252 Aggregation and transport of two GbE or GFC over OC-48/STM16
The GigaMod 252 is the ideal solution for service providers looking to utilize their existing SONET/SDH networks to offer their customers Ethernet-based services.
The GigaMod 252 is a stand alone version of the PM 252 module. It's an extremely compact and cost effective edge device designed to efficiently transport GbE service over existing SONET / SDH networks. Optimized for metro access rings, it provides TDM aggregation and transport of two GbE or Gigabit Fibre Channel over an OC-48 or STM16 (2.5G) link.
It accepts standard SFP interfaces for both the access and line side and is available with an optional 1+1 protection. It supports CWDM and DWDM optical interfaces and can be deployed as a CPE at the edge of a SONET network, over dark fiber, or into a CWDM/DWDM networks.
The GigaMod 252 is highly effective in delivering Gigabit Ethernet services at the edge of the network or aggregating and backhauling data from DSLAMs, CMTS, FTTH and Storage devices.
It can be deployed in a point to point configuration using a fiber between the units or connected directly to SONET/SDH equipment. It can be managed by SNMP and offers optical and digital performance monitoring and an in-band data communication channel for remote management.
