2 X 10G in 50GHz Transponder
Overview
The PM C2002 provides the best of all worlds to those looking to increase the 10G service capacity of a transport line system. This module provides two full rate 10G services in the optical spectrum previously used by a single 10G. Unlike other dual 10G modules, the PM C2002 only has a single 50GHz line output. This means that the module only utilizes one optical mux/filter port on a transport system, doubling the 10G capacity of the line system. The module has a tunable line interface and can be utilized with both 50GHz and 100GHz systems.
Because the PM C2002 is compliant to the OTU C-Band optical grid, is not restricted to the Ekinops 360 Multi Protocol, Multi Reach line system. It can be utilized with transport systems from other manufacturers and will not have issues with older optical filter/mux, ROADM, or add-drop technologies. The module can therefore be utilized to double the capacity of the channels remaining on systems that have already been deployed while reducing the cost of each new 10G service. Unlike technologies like 40G and 100G muxponders that allow for multiples of 10G at 50GHz, the PM C2002 is actually cheaper per 10G than individual 10G transponders and it allows for new 10Gs to be deployed at increments less than 4 or 10.
The PM C2002 has two client SFP+ interfaces and supports 10GbE as well as STM-64/OC-192.
PM C2002 Client and Line Configuration
The PM C2002 utilizes the Ekinops T-Chip®, (Transport on-a-Chip) technology providing for low power utilization, efficient space utilization, and cost effective transport of 10G services. The T-Chip® provides the PM C2002 with the industry’s leading FEC (Forward Error Correction) technology allowing superior reach and performance. DynaFEC® allows the PM C2002 to outperform traditional 10G transponders. When utilized on existing transport systems, because of the superior performance of DynaFEC®, the PM C2002 will sometimes eliminate regen sites previously required by the existing transponder technology. In addition, DynaFEC® allows the PM C2002 to be utilized over older line systems and fiber.
Applications
Because of the flexibility of the PM C2002, it can be used for a multitude of applications. It can be utilized in any application that requires 10G Ethernet or SONET/SDH transport. Ideal applications for the PM C2002 include backhaul for Business Ethernet Services, IP DSLAMs, PON or Broadband DLCs (Access Aggregation), Triple or Quadruple play, and Wireless Backhaul (3G/4G). The PM C2002 is also ideal for general transport infrastructure builds.

Management
At the element level, the PM C2002 can be managed through SNMP or via the Ekinops standard element level management interfaces, which includes a CLI (Command Line Interface) and an Ekinops java-based GUI (Graphical User Interface). The CLI is accessible via SSH and Telnet remotely or via a local serial port locally. Complete performance monitoring and management is provided, including laser shut off and local and remote loopback which is useful for maintenance and fault isolation. Digital Diagnostics Management (DDM) is supported for SFP, XFP, and OTX interfaces. This includes link status, transmit (TX) and receive (RX) signal power monitoring, and operational temperature, as well as manufacturer and transceiver model. A 10Mb in-band data communications channel (DCC) is embedded in the line side for remote management.
Of course, the PM C1002 is supported by the Ekinops SNMP Element Manager and the Ekinops Multi-Protocol Service and Network Manager.
